Kids and Teens Needed for "The Music Man"
Kids ages 8 and up are welcome to audition for "The Music Man" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. Additional info: Each person auditioning will have the opportunity to sing up to 1 minute of a song, preferably from a Broadway musical. You will then be asked to do a vocal range check. Directors will have an accompanist on the 9th only, who will play from sheet music you provide. Both nights of auditions, directors will have a speaker you may connect to so you can play a track, and they will have the show tracks to play for you. Call backs will be on December 11th at 6:00 pm, with the cast list released on December 13th. Note that a fee will be applied. If interested, please apply.

Marian’s little brother. He is still struggling with the death of his father, as well as a lisp, which makes him withdrawn. Must be a good singer, and have good rhythm and movement. THIS ROLE MAY BE DOUBLE CAST
The mayor's youngest daughter. She follows her big sister around snooping on her and trying to get people in trouble. THIS ROLE MAY BE DOUBLE CAST
The mayor's oldest daughter. She has a crush on the “bad boy” in town, and thinks her parents are ridiculous. Must have excellent movement.
The town “bad boy.” He has a crush on Zaneeta and acts out trying to get attention. He becomes Professor Hill’s right-hand man. Must have excellent rhythm and movement. THIS ROLE MAY BE DOUBLE CAST
Harold’s old sidekick who has settled into the small town life. Must have great comedic timing, a strong singing voice, and good rhythm and movement.
The local businessmen and school board. The Mayor’s men. They perform some of the most difficult songs in the show. Must have excellent singing voices, be strong and confident in holding harmonies, and have good comedic timing.
The wives of the quartet, and other “upstanding” ladies of the town. They go along with anything Mrs. Shinn says, and are quick to change their opinions when she changes hers. Must have good singing voices, and good comedic timing.
These men open the show with a difficult rhythmic “song.” They will also be townspeople in the remainder of the show. Must have excellent musical timing.
Must have good singing voices and good rhythm and movement. They perform some of the biggest songs and dances in the show. Some of these will be used as featured dancers.
