"Between the Lines Jr." Teen Audition for The Theater
Teen auditions open for "Between the Lines Jr." Theater Production. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: An empowering, enchanting musical for anyone who has struggled to find their place in the world. Invisible in a new school and the target of a bully, Delilah seeks comfort in the pages of her favorite book where she feels safe. But, as the line between fantasy and reality begins to blur, Delilah realizes her dreams in the real world are worth fighting for. Additional info: Callbacks - Wednesday, December 10 starting at 6:30 FOR THE AUDITION: 1. Bring a high quality photo and resume. 2. Be prepared to fill out a conflict calendar. 3. Prepare a 1-2 minute cut of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. 4. Bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. High school aged. A classic fairytale prince who wishes for the freedom to live beyond the confines of the story that has been written for him. Edgar is the son of the author of the book Delilah is obsessed with. High Baritone/Tenor
Ms. Winx is the school librarian, sassy and strong. Jessamyn is the author, a widowed mother of a teen boy, kooky and scattered, but smart and intuitive. Mrs. Brown is a biology teacher obsessed with self-tanning, teeth whitening, and vacationing in the Caribbean. Kyrie is a mermaid, obsessed with men while the book is being read, however once the book is closed, they become staunch feminists. Mezzo-Soprano
Delilah's mother, suddenly single 17 years as a stay-at-home mom with dreams of completing her nursing degree. Queen Maureen is Prince Oliver's mother. When the book is closed, she is the martini-swigging queen of snark. Mezzo-soprano
High school aged. Allie is the school's resident queen bee who is a smart, entitled, "mean girl." Princess Seraphima is the quintessential princess, beautiful, eloquent. When the book is closed, she is not very bright and self-absorbed. Alto/Mezzo-soprano
High school aged. The jock boyfriend of Allie, a dude's dude. Frump is Prince Oliver's best friend who is half-dog due to a curse placed on him, hopelessly in love with Princess Seraphima. Baritone
High school aged. Allie's ditzy right hand gal. Marina is a Mermaid like Kyrie. Alto
High school aged. Strong and confident, Jules is the living embodiment of "live the story you want if it's not the story you're in." Ondine is the lead Mermaid. Mezzo-soprano
High school aged. An internet troll who bullies Delilah through social media posts. Troll is a grunting, monosyllabic monster; when the book is closed, he is an Olivier-esque actor's actor. Baritone
Rapskullio is a classic evil villain. When the book is closed he is ultra-sensitive, good-hearted, and in touch with his feelings. Baritone
