About the project: Head Over Heels: High School Edition is a bold, joyful jukebox musical that follows the royal family of Arcadia as they set out on an outrageous journey to save their kingdom. Along the way, they encounter mistaken identities, star-crossed lovers, scandalous secrets, and a mysterious oracle who predicts more chaos than comfort. With hits from the Go-Go's like “We Got the Beat,” “Vacation,” and “Heaven is a Place on Earth,” this high-energy show delivers nonstop laughter, heart, and empowering messages about love, acceptance, and being true to yourself. Think Shakespeare meets the Go-Go’s… what’s not to love! Head Over Heels: High School Edition proves that the beat truly does go on! Additional info: Auditioners should be prepared to sing approximately one minute (32 bars) of a musical theater-style song. Keep in mind that the music of Head Over Heels is contemporary. There will be an accompanist at the audition for those who bring in sheet music to accompany their audition. Please bring your sheet music in a three-ring binder, with clear instructions for the accompanist to follow. There will be a mandatory dance audition for this production. The choreographer will provide an instructional video of the audition choreography ahead of time for the audition routine. You will receive the video no later than Sunday, November 23rd, if you are registered by that date. Please see the attached audition packet. Basilius and Gynecia's older daughter. Confident, stylish, and self-assured, Pamela knows how to make an impression and isn’t afraid to stand out in Arcadia’s social scene. Confident and obsessed with her appearance. Known to be the most beautiful bachelorette throughout Arcadia.
Basilius and Gynecia's younger daughter. Curious, clever, and spirited, Philoclea is drawn to adventure and truth and she yearns to follow her heart rather than obey her father's orders. She’s passionate and quick-thinking, with a heart ready to follow where love and loyalty lead.
The King’s viceroy and father to Mopsa. Dutiful and ambitious, Dametas is loyal to the crown but not above looking out for his own interests — and he’s ready to make his presence known in the kingdom.
Handmaiden to Pamela. Warm, skeptical, and a little witty. With an eye for detail and a knack for storytelling, she steps in as the show’s (sometimes) narrator, offering perspective and commentary along the way.
A young shepherd who pursues Philoclea. For part of the show, he disguises himself as a female-presenting character. Actors auditioning for this role should be comfortable portraying that aspect of this character.
The Oracle; powerful, mysterious. Demanding. Great sense of humor--can see through everyone--they are the Oracle of Delphi, after all.
Vibrant, charismatic, and full of personality! The colorful citizens of Arcadia bring the kingdom to life with energy, charm, and creativity.
