online audition
Description:

Seeking performers ages 17 and up for "The Life of Galileo" Play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Bertolt Brecht, German playwright, poet, and theatrical reformer, wrote this play in 1938 about Galileo Galilei, an Italian astronomer, physicist, and philosopher who lived from 1564-1642. Brecht focused his story on Galileo, who, like him, lived and worked under rigid power structures, and so this play is the ultimate telling truth to power story. This production will feature a one-night-only staged reading of an edited version of the play, along with a discussion featuring members from the Boise State Department of Physics. Additional info: This reading has a short, two-week rehearsal process. Many rehearsals will be broken down into separate calls, with only a few full-company calls. This is a reading, so the cast is performing with scripts on music stands. Round Two Auditions: IF NECESSARY, we will hold in-person Call Back Auditions the week of January 12th, exact date, time, and location TBA. Call Back Auditions will feature cold readings from the play. First rehearsal: January 26th, 2026 Rehearsals: January 26- February 5th, Monday – Friday, 6:30-9:30. Performance: Friday, February 6th – one show only. If interested, please apply. For your audition video, please prepare a 30 to 60-second reading (no need to memorize) of a news story/article of your choice. Please save your video file with your full name. For example: "Jane Doe Galileo Audition.mov" Upload your video to the Audition Form.
