About the project: A Raisin in the Sun follows the Younger family, a Black family in 1950s Chicago, as they navigate conflicting dreams for the future after receiving a $10,000 life insurance payout. The matriarch, Lena "Mama" Younger, wants to use the money to buy a house in a better neighborhood, while her son Walter wants to invest it in a liquor store. Meanwhile, her daughter, Beneatha, aims to use her share for medical school. The family must contend with their differing goals, the realities of racial discrimination, and the pressure to hold onto their dignity, ultimately choosing to move into the house despite the challenges.
