About the project: From the Tony Award-winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime comes this dazzling musical based on the beloved 1997 animated movie. From the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat to find out if she is indeed Princess Anastasia. With soaring vocals and such classic songs from the motion picture like “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon a December”, Anastasia: The Musical is a romantic adventure for the whole family about discovering who you are and embracing who you’re meant to be. Additional info: DANCE CALL: All will be asked to attend. Bring comfortable shoes to dance in, as well as character heels (ladies) if you have them. If you dance en pointe, please also bring your pointe shoes. There will be a mover combination, followed by a more technical dance combination for those asked to stay. Although many roles don’t dance in the show, directors want to get to know your personality and movement styles. VOCAL AUDITIONS: Please prepare a short musical theatre song in the style of the show that showcases vocal range, acting ability, and personality. Singing from the show is welcome. Please bring sheet music clearly marked in a binder for our accompanist. CALLBACKS: Sunday, 11/2 from 12-4 pm (Invitation Only) Callbacks will be sent out Saturday night after vocal appointments and/or after the dance call; you will be given songs and/or scenes via email to prepare before Sunday’s callbacks. (Child Soprano, C4-C5) The willful, brave, proud, and precocious youngest daughter of the Tsar. She has a special bond with her grandmother (whom she calls Nana). Will double as Alexei, the younger brother of the Romanov siblings, as well as in the ensemble. Must move well.
