About the project: "The Wiz" is a musical retelling of The Wizard of Oz that follows a young woman named Dorothy who is transported to the magical, urban Land of Oz by a tornado and seeks the help of the enigmatic Wiz to return home. Along the way, she befriends a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion, who join her quest to find the Wiz and defeat the evil Evillene. The show is known for its blend of soul, gospel, R&B, and funk music, and its all-Black cast.
