A teen-aged boy who is rough at the edges, but loyal. His disdain for his mom grows as their cramped living conditions become suffocating. Jeronta loves his mom, but sees himself as defacto protector for his younger brother, Mal. (Must have experience playing soccer)
A rambunctious, innocent, energetic and oblivious. Mal is too young to understand the extent of their struggle. Mal’s world is complete so long as Jeronta and Florence are part of it.
