About the project: In this delightfully warm-hearted and family-friendly holiday story, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy's. Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy's customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy's vocational counselor, who plots to have Kris shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl's belief in Santa. In a dramatic decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa, allowing Susan and countless other children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy. Additional info: Adults: Perform a brief comedic monologue of any topic in the style of the 1940s American Transatlantic dialect. *The monologue does not have to be written in the period, only performed in the style. Also, please prepare to informally discuss one of your earliest memories of Santa Claus. Children 12 & Under: Sing a verse and a chorus of a religious Christmas song. (e.g. Silent Night, O’ Holy Night, O’ Come All Ye Faithful, The First Noel, Joy to the World, etc.) Also, please prepare to read aloud your letter to Santa. A letter will be provided if the child hasn’t brought one. Callbacks will take place Wednesday, October 22nd and are by invitation only.
