Seeking Boys and Girls for "Newsies Jr." Musical
Actors in Grades 1-8 are welcome to audition for "Newsies Jr.". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys' expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right. Including the now-classic songs "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," and "Santa Fe," Newsies JR. is a timeless story full of spirit and heart. Additional info: Come for try-outs at any time during the two days. Interested participants will be asked to sing a song with a karaoke track or a cappella for 1 minute and recite a 1-minute monologue (i.e., poem, short story), preferably memorized, that you have prepared for the try-outs. Full cast rehearsals will be held primarily at South Park Middle School on Saturday afternoons and a few Sundays. Depending on their part, participants may be responsible for their own costumes.
