"I Never Saw Another Butterfly" Auditions For Kids/Teens
"I Never Saw Another Butterfly" Auditions. Seeking 4+ kids, character ages 6-14, and teens 16+. Please see the details below. About the project: I Never Saw Another Butterfly is a family drama, but may not be appropriate for young children. (Trigger warnings for death, holocaust, racism) Over 15,000 Jewish children passed through Terezin detainment camp, and only about 150 survived by the time Terezin was liberated at the end of World War 2. One of the survivors, Raja, having lived through it all, teaching the children when there was nothing to teach with, helping to give them hope when there was little enough reason for hope, creating a little world of laughter, of flowers and butterflies behind the barbed wire, tells the true story of the children of Terezin. It's her play and it's theirs. There were no butterflies at the camp, of course, but for the children, butterflies became a symbol of defiance, making it possible for them to live on and play happily while waiting to be transported. Additional info: Auditions will consist of directed activity and possibly cold readings. No prepared monologues. If interested, please apply.
