It follows Giovanni, the eldest son of a working-class family, who sacrificed his dream of becoming a professional violinist to care for his large, dependent family after his father’s death. To keep them afloat, he became a mid-tier gangster, something his father resented seeing happen in their diaspora. But the story is not about crime—it’s about what poverty and obligation force people to become. Looking for a caucasian/italian-passing, dark-haired boy (age 8-14) to make an appearance as the younger version of the main character (Giovanni). No lines, brief appearance playing a violin in one scene, will be needed for family photos. Must be based in Toronto, as we are shooting in Toronto.
