About the musical: Based on the classic Harold Gray comic strip "Little Orphan Annie", Annie tells the story of a spirited young orphan in 1930s New York City. Determined and full of heart, Annie escapes from the orphanage run by the sour Miss Hannigan to pursue her dreams of finding her real parents. Along the way, she transforms the lives of billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his secretary Grace Farrell, and a host of others-including audiences everywhere-with showstopping numbers like “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard-Knock Life.” The musical, first produced on Broadway in 1977, won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, forging its legacy as a perennial favorite for community, school, and professional theaters worldwide.
