Currently seeking local New Jersey actors &actresses for a new film in the spirit of a classic karate movie called "The Way" ​The story follows Jamie, a teenage girl who goes from being timid, insecure and scared because she is bullied to powerful, confident and strong by learning Karate from her Step-Dad. Overall, it is a tale about finding discipline, overcoming ego, and understanding that true strength is found in peace, not aggression. For consideration, submit video reel, a size card along with multiple headshots, and a cover letter stating the location in which you will be travelling. *Note: Talent will not be picked or selected unless they submit the above. (This is a non paid opportunity) Rehearsals are virtually; shoots in East Orange, NJ. Meals are offered, along with IMDB and reel footage.

Jamie is a teenager who begins the story seeking revenge on bullies. She is driven by a desire for power and control. As she learns karate and becomes skilled, her initial motivation for defense shifts to aggression, leading her to become arrogant and overly confident. Her character arc is defined by her journey from a bullied outcast to a humbling defeat, which ultimately leads her to a more mature understanding of martial arts and friendship.

Serenity is the second lead and a foil to Jamie. She is characterized by her calm and gentle nature. Unlike Jamie, she approaches martial arts with a focus on discipline and inner peace, which allows her to learn advanced techniques. Her journey is one of strength found in tranquility and a moral center that contrasts with Jamie's aggressive tendencies.

Kaya (Supporting)Female12-17 y.o.African-American

Kaya is an Irish twin to Serenity, meaning they were born within 12 months of each other. She is one of the four newcomers who join the dojo alongside Serenity and their other siblings, Star & Dan. While her initial motivation for joining is not explicitly stated at first, she is shown to be a loyal and supportive character. Her role becomes more significant when she steps in to help Kameron, demonstrating a sense of solidarity and community within the dojo.

With her two followers, Brielle and Lexi backing her up &creating a united front of aggression that leaves Jamie feeling powerless. Their bullying is what first pushes Jamie to seek revenge and learn karate.

Dante is the undisputed king of the basketball court. He's an aggressive and cocky player who believes his dominance on the court translates to all parts of his life. His refusal to play fair and his need to win at all costs is what pushes Kameron to seek martial arts training.

Scarlett is a girl who thrives on drama. She is easily swayed by gossip and sees Serenity as a threat, which leads her to accuse Serenity of stealing her boyfriend. Her bullying is driven by social conflict and a need to control the narrative.

Mark/Vince/Hector/Leo (Chrous)Male12-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Additionally, Serenity is harassed by a group of boys—Mark, Vince, Hector, and Leo—who repeatedly bother her with unwanted and inappropriate touching. They see her gentle nature as a sign of weakness and take advantage of it. They even try to touch her sister Kaya too, However, being more vocal, Kaya becomes Serenity's motivation to learn karate. She even joins the dojo along with her siblings to help Serenity gain the confidence to defend herself from the physical harassment of the boys.
