"Hadestown: Teen Edition" Needs Boys and Girls

Performers between 13 and 18 years old are encouraged to audition for "Hadestown: Teen Edition". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and lady Persephone – Hadestown invites audiences on a journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Additional info: Each evening of auditions will include a mandatory dance call from 6:30-7:30. Outside of the dance call, students should register for a 5 minute audition slot to present two 32-bar cuts from contrasting musical pieces. An accompanist will be provided; tracks may not be used. The productions are for experienced students who are ready to engage with material that is lengthier and more complex. Note that a fee will be applied. If interested, please apply.
