About the project: A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world. The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination! Tenor/Bari-tenor. Put-upon florist looking for a way out of Skid Row. Pines for Audrey from a distance. Willing to sacrifice a lot to get a little. Awkward with good comedic timing.
Mezzo-Soprano. Ever-hopeful dreamer looking for a way out of Skid Row. Pines for “Somewhere That’s Green.” Ability to drop in and land certain moments with a glaze of comedic vapidity.
Baritone/Bari-tenor. Manipulative, abusive dentist lusting for power. Also plays a variety of male ensemble tracks.
Alto/Bass. The carnivorous plant. A powerhouse voice, able to toe the line between seductive and explosive. In this production, Audrey II will be a performer on stage that emerges from a plant. The actor is a physical manifestation of Seymour’s ambition and id, while there will be a plant – the actor is not an offstage voice bodied by a puppet. Strong dancer preferred.
The inhabitants of the Skid Row neighborhood. Expressive, grounded, and vibrant singer/dancers with the ability to play multiple characters. Will also understudy other roles to be assigned. Strong movers/dancers preferred.
