Seeking kids and teens for “Oz! (Retold).” Details are provided below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Skip down the yellow brick road like you never have before, with this comedic retelling of L. Frank Baum's 1900's children's novel, The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy is a shy girl from Minnesota, who constantly clings to her stuffed dog toto, until one day she is flown by tornado to the land of Oz. In Oz, Dorothy learns to make friends with a peculiar set of characters! A scarecrow who learns to problem solve, a tinman who learns to feel, and a lion who learns to be brave - all while out-running a wicked witch, who just wants to dance! Oz! (retold) runs approx. 2 hours in length, with a 15 minute intermission, and is most enjoyed by audiences age 5 and up. Additional info: Please note: there is a production fee applied. Actors will have the option to select a full-time or part-time preference for their role. Full-time actors participate in all performances and dress rehearsals and have a more strenuous production schedule. Part-time actors participate in half of the performances and dress rehearsals and have a less strenuous production schedule. The fee is the same regardless of being cast in a part-time or full-time role. During auditions, each actor will be asked to count from 1 to 10 pretending to be different animals/characters, showing different emotions, and/or acting out various tasks. Audition prompts will be given by the casting team at the audition and will vary based on the actors age and experience level. Actors may practice at home with a parent/caregiver, friend or sibling. (Example: Please count from 1 to 10, at 1 pretend to be a mouse, at 10, pretend to be a lion.) Actors will NOT be asked to read lines or sing during auditions for this production.
