About the project: "AVOIDING SIN" is a tense romance that's an internal battle between a young woman's adherence to her traditional culture and a new forbidden love which allows her to encompass her authentic self. As Ranrha deals with the demands placed upon her from the Paktun culture and community, she yearns for the freedom and acceptance provided by this connection. Their relationship, slowly building in stolen moments, ultimately allows her to find a new path for her life to take. A dangerous love, the cost of one mistimed glance, or one slipped word can cut both lives short just as they begin to intertwine. Ranrha is a stranger in a strange land. She must navigate a western world with a middle eastern upbringing. Struggling to maintain her islamic practices while learning to adapt to a foreign culture, she must maneuver through two worlds. One of duty, and one of freedom. Tonally, the film should be a collision of different genres-thriller, romance, coming-of-age, even the American immigrant story.
