About the project: Based on the 1946 motion picture and novel by Valentine Davies, Miracle on 34th Street is about Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home who gets a job working as Santa Claus for Macy’s in 1940’s New York City. Kris unleashes waves of goodwill with Macy’s customers by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child wants. Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy’s vocational counselor, Kris is shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital and ends up in a court competency hearing. With one little girl’s belief in Santa, and her Mother’s ability to trust again at stake, Kris is defended by a good-hearted lawyer. In a dramatic decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa, allowing Susan and countless other children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy. Additional info: Show dates December 4 - 14 No experience is necessary and all are welcome to audition. If you want an opportunity to be onstage with minimal (or no) lines and rehearsal commitments, this is your opportunity! Excerpts from the script will be provided and no prepared monologues are necessary. Rehearsals: Beginning Thursday, October 9, 2025, and then generally four nights per week for major roles until opening week. Rehearsals for smaller roles will be scheduled as needed.
