Kids 8 years old and up are invited to audition for the "Newsies Jr." Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Disney's Newsies JR. is a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway musical, based on the 1992 film, inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City. When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys' expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right. Additional info: What to bring: 1. Please prepare a 30-45 Second Monologue and a 45- 60 Second Song Selection (Approximately Verse/Chorus, 16 Bars). You may choose your own monologue or select one of the pieces provided in the sign-up link. Both pieces should show off your range and personality as a person and performer. You may audition with your song or monologue first or with whatever your preference is. Please note that no accompanist will be provided. Please DO NOT select a monologue/song from Newsies for auditions. Pictures and measurements will be taken, so please dress comfortably but presentably. Callbacks will take place Saturday, August 30, from 9:00 to 12:00. Note that a fee will be applied. Rehearsals will begin Sunday, September 7. Rehearsal will be on Sundays from 2:00-6:00 and Monday evenings from 5:30-9:00.
