"Once Upon a Mattress" Youth Edition Needs Boys and Girls
Actors ages 7-18 are invited to audition for "Once Upon a Mattress" Youth Edition. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: This hilarious, family-friendly musical turns the classic fairytale of The Princess and the Pea upside down with witty dialogue, lovable characters, and toe-tapping songs. Follow Princess Winnifred as she faces quirky tests, royal antics, and a towering stack of mattresses in her quest for true love and happily-ever-after. Additional info: Auditions will be in small groups in less than an hour-long time slots. DANCE audition requirement: Within your audition slot, you will be taught a dance combination in a small group. VOCAL audition requirement: Please practice one of the musical cuts associated with the part you are auditioning for. These can be found in the attachment. Participants will be required to sing individually to the cut without vocals. Guide vocals are provided for audition preparation. READING audition requirement: You will be asked to do a cold reading from the script. You may be asked to read alone, with a partner, or in a small group. TENTATIVE REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: Rehearsals will begin in August and will be mostly on Friday evenings and weekend mornings. Performances will be 11/7-11/16 at The Majestic Theater.
