Casting Call for Teens for "Cinderella" Musical
Casting ages 14-18 years old for "Cinderella" Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Originally presented on television in 1957, starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella was twice remade for television, first in 1965 for Lesley Ann Warren and again in 1997, featuring Brandy and Whitney Houston. The original Broadway production of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella opened in 2013 and starred Laura Osnes, Santino Fontana, Victoria Clark and Harriet Harris. Additional info: The initial audition will consist of a singing audition (please review the requirements below). The invitational callbacks will include dance, singing, and possibly readings from the script. Please prepare a 64-bar ( approximately 60-second) cut from a song that fits the style of the show and suits your voice. This is a classic, Golden Age musical, so please consider songs from similar musicals like Disney movies and musicals, like Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Kiss Me Kate, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, etc. Selections from the show are also encouraged. We strongly suggest singing something that shows your comedic timing. Avoid musicals from very different genres (“Rent”, for example, will not tell us how your voice will fit into this show!) Your audition song should be memorized and show your ability to portray the character’s emotions, mannerisms, etc. Dance will not be done until the invitational callback. Please bring a device to play your accompaniment track on, such as a smartphone. Invitational callbacks will be on August 27th. REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will be held 3 times per week: Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays, 6-9. Tech Week rehearsals are mandatory and will be Sun, Nov 9th through 13th, 5-9 pm. PERFORMANCES (November 14-23, 2 weekends!) Fridays @ 7 pm Saturdays @ 2 pm & 7 pm Sundays @ 2 pm School Show Thursday, November 20 | 10 am Note that a participation fee will be applied. If interested, please apply.
