Kimberly High School students are invited to audition for the fall play "It Can't Happen Here". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: It Can’t Happen Here is based on the semi-satirical novel by Sinclair Lewis (1935) and the play by Lewis and John C. Moffitt (1936). This piece, written as Germany’s power was rising in the early 1930s, imagines similar circumstances as a liberal rebellion struggles against a newly elected totalitarian government in the United States. This play was performed simultaneously across America in 1936 through the support of the Federal Theater Project, part of the Works Progress Administration. KHS Theatre will be presenting an abridged version of the original play adapted by Minneapolis playwright Kit Bix. Additional info: You will prepare a monologue from the show to perform at auditions.
