Description:

Seeking talent ages 13 and up for "Oklahoma" Play. Please see the details below. About the project: The first collaboration of famed partners Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, Oklahoma!, set the American musical theatre standard. Set in the Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the 20th Century, the spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the backdrop for the love story between Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a beautiful farm girl. The road to true love is anything but smooth, but there is no doubt that these two romantics will succeed in making a life together. As the road to romance and the road to statehood converge, Curly and Laurey are poised to spend their new life together in a brand new state: O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A – OKLAHOMA! Additional info: The registration table will open at 6:30 PM; please bring a current headshot if you have one. Vocal auditions will begin at 7, and you will sing in the order in which you registered. Auditions will consist of singing a song of your choice AND presenting a one-minute monologue. Prepare a song in the style of the show that highlights your vocal range and strength, as well as your personality and stage presence. You can sing a cappella, bring your own accompanist, or sing with a soundtrack if the track has no vocals (bring your own electronic equipment). Directors will teach a short choreography routine after the singing/monologue auditions. Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for dancing. SHOW DATES: October 17-19 at University Church in Waxahachie. Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, August 28. If interested, please apply.
