Teen Actors Needed for "Hadestown" Teen Edition

Auditions are open to actors in 9th-12th grades. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm beginning August 12th (We follow Forsyth County Schools’ calendar for breaks like Fall Break, Thanksgiving, etc, and no rehearsals will meet on those dates.) Performances will be March 13th and 14th. There is one additional technical rehearsal on Saturday, March 7th, beginning at 10 am. Please note that the fee applies. For your audition: -Please be familiar with THESE SCENES. They do not need to be memorized, but you should be familiar enough to be expressive during your audition. -Please come prepared to dance…you will be taught a short combination. -Plan to stay for the full hour of your audition time slot. -Please come with a 16 to 32 bar audition cut (30-75 seconds) of a musical theatre song either written by the composer of Hadestown, Anais Mitchell (but not from Hadestown) OR a musical theater or non-musical theater song in the style of the Hadestown. The idea is to pick a song from a different musical that fits the style of the character you are most interested in. However, if you don’t have a character/characters you are specifically interested in, or you can’t find an appropriate song that fits your voice well, that’s okay! Sing something that is vocally comfortable, enjoyable to sing, and shows off the best parts of your voice! An audition is all about making a great impression and showing off your strengths in a short presentation, and the best way to do so is with something you can have fun, be yourself, and show some character with! If you are needed for a callback, you will be contacted no later than 5 pm on August 7th. Please note: not all students will be called back and just because you don’t receive a callback does NOT mean you will not be cast! The cast list will be released by 10 pm on August 10th with the first cast rehearsal on August 12th. If interested, please apply.
