Seeking Boys and Girls for "Music Man Kids"
Kids in Grades 2-5 are welcome to audition for the "Music Man Kids" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Based on Meredith Willson's six-time Tony Award-winning musical comedy, The Music Man. Master showman Harold Hill is in town, and he’s got “seventy-six trombones” in tow. Can upright, uptight Marian, the town librarian, resist his powerful allure? The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize. The catch? He doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, whose belief in Harold’s power just might help him succeed in the end, in spite of himself. [Please note: Music Man KIDS is an abbreviated version of a full show. The run time of the show is approximately 30 minutes.] Additional info: The audition will consist of BOTH a Vocal and Dance Audition. For the Vocal Audition, auditioners should be prepared to sing approximately 30 seconds of any song, a cappella. For the Dance Audition, auditioners will be taught a short dance that they will then perform for our staff. Children must participate in both the Vocal and Dance Auditions in order to be cast in the show. All children will be singing and dancing in the show. Auditioners should bring a recent photo, no larger than 4 x 6, to the auditions. All auditioners should arrive 10 minutes before their audition time to check in. Please do not arrive any earlier than 10 minutes prior to the beginning of your time slot. Some children may be asked to stay an additional 5-10 minutes after their audition time slot has ended to read lines. Parents and guardians will NOT be allowed to wait in the building during auditions. Auditioners will be dismissed when their audition time slot is complete. Parents, please wait outside on the sidewalk to greet your child. See the attachment for details. If interested, please apply by August 15 at 10:00 PM.
