About the project: In Queens, New York, a Korean immigrant family of four leads separate lives, each enduring moments of defeat in their daily existence. As they navigate the complexities of survival and disconnection, they each hide their emotional wounds from one another. Rate: $100/day. Meals are provided to the actor and guardian. Additional info: Casting boys ages 8-11 to portray elementary school students in a classroom setting. These roles involve natural, unscripted background actions such as chatting with classmates, listening to the teacher, cleaning the blackboard, and helping to create a believable school atmosphere. There is one scene where the students gather around another student (a role that has already been cast) and subtly tease her. The tone of this moment will be handled with care, aiming to reflect quiet social dynamics rather than overt bullying. Most of the actors will be given short lines. A parent or guardian will be allowed within sight and sound of the Minor at all times while they are working. This production will be in compliance with all state child labor laws. DATE & LOCATION: One-day shoot on July 18 in Brooklyn or Jersey City. Note: Location TBD.
