Kid Actors Needed for "The Wizard of Oz" Play

Auditions for children in grades 1-8 are welcome to audition for "The Wizard of Oz" Play. Please see the details below. About the project: The story is as familiar as it is beloved. That nasty tornado carries Dorothy and her canine pal Toto from the friendly confines of her Kansas home to a fabled fantasy of mystery in the land of Oz. Our story begins with the Illusionists who set the scene for the tale you are about to witness. With the help of the Munchkins and Glinda herself, the young Miss Gale and her loyal pooch join forces with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and, of course, the Cowardly Lion. Off they go down the Yellow Brick Road–side-stepping a Wicked Witch and her ferocious Kalidahs, Sprouts that are far nicer-looking than they act, and the loyal Green Guard–on their perilous journey to find the Wizard and ask for his help. For they are sure his Wizness will grant their wishes and send Dorothy and Toto back to their home–or will he? We’ll never tell. Come see for yourself. Additional info: This is a group audition–no advance preparation is necessary. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time! Morning rehearsals will be conducted every day from 10a to 12p, with afternoon rehearsals being held from 12:15p - 2:15p. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role and be available for all scheduled performances. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4 hours and 15 minutes will be asked to bring a sack lunch, dinner or snack to be eaten during the 15-minute break between sessions. The performances will be held on July 19 at 3:00p, and 5:30p and will be presented at the Viroqua Elementary Cafeteria. Parents are discouraged from attending Friday’s dress rehearsal. Actors will be expected to arrive early prior to show times on Saturday. That time has yet to be finalized but tentatively plan for an hour before show time. See the attachment for details.
