Singing Audition for "Newsies" Musical

About the project: It's time to carry the banner on your stage with Disney's Newsies! Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, "Newsies" is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenage "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right! Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). Featuring the now classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience. Rate: Profit Share - $100 Guarantee. If a youth is cast as Les, they will be included in the profit share; all other youth will be volunteering in a mentorship as members of the cast. Additional info: Non-Union. VOCAL AUDITION: Please prepare two contrasting songs in the style of the show, no longer than a 32-bar cut. You will be required to sing with an instrumental track. Please bring them with you to the audition or send them to us prior to your audition. Directors will have a Bluetooth speaker available for you to sing with. All performers must complete a vocal audition. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. DANCE AUDITIONS: Following vocal auditions, select performers will be invited to the dance call. Please come ready to move and perform. Please bring tap shoes if you have them. Auditionees will be released as the evening goes on, directors cannot give an exact time.
