"West Side Story" Show Needs Teenagers
Actors aged 12-18 years old are welcome to audition for the "West Side Story" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Auditioners should come with sheet music or a digital recording, as accompaniment of a song in the style of the show. Please prepare approximately 16-30 bars of music. No recorded music with vocals or a cappella singing is allowed. A piano accompanist will be provided. Dance Audition: Auditioners need to learn the dance, which will be posted on the website by June 23rd. Please learn the dance audition before the audition. You will be asked to perform the dance at the audition. Auditioners will be asked to do cold readings from the script. INVITED CALLBACKS: July 22 @ 6-10 p.m. REHEARSAL COMMITMENT: August 10-October 23, 2025 (Typically Sundays 1-5 p.m. & Tuesdays 7-9 p.m. + daily for Tech Week) PERFORMANCE COMMITMENT: October 24-November 9, 2025. If cast in the show, each actor will be REQUIRED to volunteer five (5) hours to a technical area (set construction, set decoration, costumes, props, lighting, and/or sound). A spunky tomboy who is desperate to become a member of the Jets. The other Jets mock her for her ambitions, but generally appreciate her company. Full of energy and heart.
The owner of the candy store where the Jets hang out. He tries to guide the Jets youthful angst and provides a safe haven for Tony. Old fashioned and wise in his ways.
A local police detective frustrated by the ongoing violence between the Jets and Sharks. Blunt, brash, and unapologetic.
The local beat cop. He has no patience for the gangs conflict and tries to keep tensions from erupting between them. Regularly mocked by the local gangs.
