Looking for talents ages 14 and up for "The Diary of Anne Frank" "The Diary of Anne Frank", and "Journey Through Neverland". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK: In this transcendently powerful new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. JOURNEY THROUGH NEVERLAND Powerhouse returns to the grounds of Prescott Farm for a new theatre adventure based on Peter Pan. Audiences will travel through the grounds of Prescott Farm where they encounter scenes from the iconic story. Some characters will lead the audience through the adventure, while other characters perform their shorts scenes at one location. This will be a fun and silly experience that will be a smaller time commitment than some of our larger-scale productions. Bring some pixie dust and your imagination ,and audition! Additional info: THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK Please prepare one of the monologues attached (memorization is optional.) Also, please familiarize yourself with the scenes provided, as directors will be doing some scene work. JOURNEY THROUGH NEVERLAND Prepare one of the monologues or scenes provided. Memorization is option but we are looking for fun, engaging characters. Familiarize yourself with the additional monologues and scenes as you may be asked to read additional pieces. Extraordinary in her hope, passion, and belief in the good in the world at the start of the show, she is innocent, precocious, and does not hesitate to speak her mind. As she matures through her time in hiding, she becomes introspective, compassionate, and ultimately eager and hopeful for a more accepting future for everyone. Warm, witty, intelligent, charming, self-aware, sensitive, often impatient, sometimes a know-it-all, open, determined, easily hurt, spirited, hopeful, fun-loving.
Anne's older sister. Like her mother, she is quieter, and more mature than Anne. Margot feels alone and unsure of her place in the annex. She is reserved and respectful of others. Although they are opposites, she loves and admires Anne, and longs for deeper connections to others, but does not know how to achieve them. She is obedient, frail, sickly at times, friendly, intelligent, overwhelmed by the trials of hiding.
The Van Daan son. He is annoyed with Anne initially, but later confesses to admiring her spirit. They become good friends in hiding, He is trying to find his place - not only in the annex but in the world. He is not sure of who he will become or if he will be given the chance to find out. He has a good heart and is protective of those he loves. Awkward, immature, shy, sometimes amusing, attached to his cat. He hates his mother and father’s constant quarrels.
