Music Gig for Young Singers in the Musical "Oliver!"
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking strong singers, dancers ages 8+ for musical "Oliver!". Please, see the details below. About the play: This production will embrace the darker, grittier underbelly of Victorian London—where survival is a daily struggle, and loyalty can be bought or betrayed in a heartbeat. Through haunting ballads and rousing ensemble numbers, Oliver! explores themes of poverty, found family, and the fragile line between good and evil. This will be a character-driven production that balances joy and desperation, featuring a large cast of compelling roles for all ages. Rate: All roles are non-union and unpaid. Additional information: MUSIC: Please prepare two contrasting pieces from the musical theater uncatalogued. You may be asked to only do a small selection from the second piece, so start with the one you feel most comfortable with. Please bring sheet music in the correct key for the provided accompanist. You may only be asked to sing one of the pieces. A simple range test may be given. Please do not bring a song from Oliver! If you do not have access to sheet music, they can provide equipment for your karaoke backing track. Please let the stage manager know in advance if you require this accommodation. DANCE: Please come to your audition with comfortable clothing. All auditionees will be asked to participate in a 45 minute movement audition with the choreographer where we will see how well you can move and follow routines. This will help us better place people in casting as some roles require more movement than others. It also gives us a chance to see how you work in a group and take direction. CALLBACKS: If you are being considered for one of the principal roles, you may be asked to attend the callbacks on Sunday, September 14th. Not all roles will be called back. If you receive a callback, you will be notified of the time and provided callback materials on Tuesday, September 9th, after all initial auditions have concluded.
