Kid Actors Needed for "Twice Upon A Time" Show

Kids in grades 1-9 are welcome to audition for the "Twice Upon A Time" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Grandma doesn’t really like fairy tales — she prefers adventure stories about pirates and astronauts. So, when her grandkids ask for fairy tale bedtime stories, Grandma puts some pretty silly twists on them! “Twice upon a time...” Grandma begins each goofy retelling of a once-familiar classic. Cindy-Rella is now an insufferable neat freak not inclined to leave her chores to attend the prince’s barbecue, even if there will be a bouncy castle there. Grandma seems to have forgotten about the Big Bad Wolf, so her stories pull Big Bad Bear away from his porridge to threaten both the Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Pants. Even Goldilocks is confused about why she has cameo appearances in both these stories! Despite the children’s occasional protests at Grandma’s absurd revisions, they beg for more. She forges on to tell the tales of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (because four is plenty, thank you!), and Grumplegrapeskin, the magical goblin who wants nothing more than to have the game show host remember his name. You’ll remember Grumplegrapeskin and all the rest of the kooky characters in this charming production of five fractured fairy tales that will really crack you up! Additional info: All actors are required to audition with a self-selected, 1-minute monologue (should be memorized). Some actors may be asked to read one or more sides provided during the audition. Please dress appropriately and expect to have your photo taken after you have signed in. Please do not bring props to the audition. Also, the casting committee requests that you do not wear costumes or face paint. Rehearsals: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The first rehearsal is Monday, June 30th. Attendance by all the cast and crew at the first rehearsal is required and nonnegotiable. Generally, weekday rehearsals will be from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. An in-depth rehearsal schedule is provided at the first rehearsal. Additional rehearsals may be called, if needed. Rehearsals may be limited to small groups with various arrival and dismissal times. Rehearsal attendance is crucial, but no absences are allowed unless disclosed in the registration form conflicts. Inability to attend rehearsals affects casting eligibility. Performances: Friday, Sept. 5th @ 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6th @ 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7th @ 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12th @ 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13th @ 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14th @ 2:30 p.m. Family Volunteer Expectations: Parent and family participation is a natural part of the community theatre experience. They expect each family to contribute approximately 20 hours to the production prior to performances (set building, work inside the theatre, show promotion, etc.), plus working before, during, or after most performances.
