Singing Opportunities for Teens in "Into the Woods" Play

About the play: "Into the Woods" is a magical and imaginative Broadway musical that intertwines the stories of several beloved fairy tale characters. The story begins with a Baker and his wife who long for a child but are cursed with barrenness by a wicked Witch. To break the curse, they must venture into the woods to gather four items: a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold. As they embark on their quest, they cross paths with Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and his beanstalk, Cinderella, and Rapunzel, each with their own wishes and dreams. The first act ends with everyone seemingly achieving their heart's desire, but the second act reveals the consequences of their choices and the darker side of "happily ever after." The musical explores themes of desire, responsibility, and the consequences that come with our actions. It's a whimsical yet profound reminder that "wishes come true, not free," and that every action can have far-reaching consequences. With its enchanting score by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, "Into the Woods" is a captivating journey that's as humorous as it is heartfelt.
