Seeking young talent for the upcoming singing audition for "Cabaret." See the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Inside Berlin’s sultry Kit Kat Klub, a charismatic Master of Ceremonies invites patrons to partake in a decadent world of musical numbers, kicklines and torrid affairs — a welcome reprieve from the ever-growing Nazi influence just outside its doors. As the political unrest nears a tipping point, the beautiful life the cabaret promises slowly begins to fade, putting love, friendship, and loyalties to the test. Additional info: Please note: there is a production fee applied. A required dance call is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday evening, August 12, and you may be asked to perform your audition piece again, in person, at that time. Additional info will be sent out to those who submit an application and self-tape. Callbacks, by invitation, will be on Wednesday evening, August 13. Rehearsals begin Saturday, August 16. Emcee (Range: C3-G4) The host at the Kit Kat Club. A magnetic and hypnotizing performer who can equally charm you and terrify you. Tenor.
(Range: E3-C5) A British Cabaret performer and the headliner at Berlin's Kit Kat Club. Sally is eccentric, compelling, vivacious, and outrageous - a true bohemian with an artist’s soul. Underneath the surface she is far more complicated than she appears. Soprano with a strong belt.
(Range: C#3-E4) An American novelist and English teacher traveling to Berlin for inspiration. Strong wit, charisma, presence, and depth. Baritone.
(Range: Eb3-B4) An older landlady who rents rooms in her large flat. She is alone and resigned to her place in life, but secretly longs for more. She is wise and worn but with real sparkle and humor. A survivor and a cynic. Loving Herr Schultz and choosing to risk getting engaged could cost her everything. Alto with strong belt.
(Range: C3-G4) One of Fraulein Schneider’s roomers. An older Jewish fruit shop owner who falls in love with Fraulein Schneider. He is warm, kind, endearing, and heartbreakingly “naïve”. There is a survivor here too. High baritone.
(Range: F#3-Eb5) A lodger in Fraulein Schneider's boarding house, she works as a prostitute. Quick witted and sharp tongued, willing swap alliances to be on the winning side. Mezzo-soprano with strong belt.
(Range: D3-F#4) A friendly and likable German, he takes English lessons from Cliff. He appears witty, charming, and warm but, ultimately, is a Nazi. Baritone.
