A bright, ambitious 17-year-old from Mysore, India in 1956, Nithya is on the verge of an arranged marriage she does not want. Academically gifted and passionate about mathematics, English, and drawing, she dreams of becoming an architect or studying literature, but her family’s financial struggles and tradition threaten to end her education.
