Kids and Teens Needed for "The Wizard of Oz, Youth Edition"
Casting kids and teens for "The Wizard of Oz, Youth Edition." See the details below. About the project: Dorothy and her loyal companion Toto “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” through the Land of Oz, determined to reach the Emerald City, where the great and powerful Wizard of Oz will help them get home. Of course, along the way, Dorothy encounters witches (both good and bad), Munchkins, talking trees and winged monkeys. But most importantly, she befriends three unique characters: a Scarecrow with no brain, a Tin Man with no heart, and a Lion with no “nerve.” Their journey is a glowing testament to friendship, understanding and hope. Additional info: PRODUCTION DATES Friday, Sept12-Sunday, Sept. 21 Initial auditions will consist of three parts: a vocal (musical) audition, a dance/movement audition, and acting audition with selections chosen from the script. For the vocal/music auditions: Please prepare to perform 16-32 bars of any song - preferably a musical theatre selection. You may use backing tracks or sheet music for your accompaniment. Please have tracks ready to play easily; music should be well-marked with starting and ending point. For the dance/movement audition: Please be prepared to learn a dance section to music. For the acting audition: You will perform cold readings of selections from the musical. This is a “Youth Edition.” production, which is designed for younger actors and has been altered to be shorter than a full-length production. Please bring all conflicts to auditions in order to fill out your personal conflict schedule. Begin having rehearsals around July 7 When the directors begin rehearsing, the directors will meet roughly 3-5 times per week; the directors will meet more often the closer the directors get to production. Each rehearsal is about 2-3 hours. Occasionally, the directors meet for a longer time, but the directors always strive to use the time wisely and efficiently. The final technical and dress rehearsals are considered mandatory since the directors need to make sure one and all are fully prepared for audiences. In order to meet that need, everyone involved needs to be present and doing their job/role. Please see the attachment for details. If you are interested, please apply.
