Seeking for Dance Tryouts in "S’cool" Musical
"S’cool" Musical is looking for talent ages 12-17 years old. Please see the details below. About the project: Through a variety of musical styles, S’cool explores the feelings and frustrations experienced by contemporary teenagers. Self-respect, acceptance, and creating one’s own identity are all covered in this engaging 30-minute production. Additional info: Those auditioning should prepare 32 bars of a pop/rock song of their choice. A short dance call will follow the auditions. So dress accordingly or bring a change of clothes. Please bring a photo of yourself to help directors put names with faces. Any photo will do! If interested, please apply.

Typical teenage boy, bright, but not that much into school. He has a penchant for the arts, and like most students, is trying to fit in. He sings a baritone solo explaining his plight in "IT'S S'COOL"
Alternative looking; hippie or goth, but basically just trying to establish an identity of her own. She sings a mezzo solo in "IT'S S'COOL!" that establishes her longing for Michael and the duet, "YOU AND ME."
Obvious jock, self-assured, at least on the outside. Math is not his thing. He sings a baritone solo in "IT'S S'COOL!" and "ALGEBRAMETRY."
The brain. She is very smart in science and math. She represents all of the University-bound students and tends to use large words when she gets aggitated. She sings a mezzo solo in "IT'S S'COOL"
Stacy's love interest. He is shy, but finally musters the courage to ask her out. He has upper baritone solos in "ALGEBRAMETRY" and "YOU AND ME."
One of the clowns of the group. He likes to make people laugh. He shares an upper baritone duet with Jaime in "LUNCH TIME!"
(pronounced hi-may) Robert's cousin. Also a comedian; he is just as funny as his cousin and shares an upper baritone duet in "LUNCH TIME!"
Also a brain in the group. He knows who he is, and enjoys pondering the other cast members' behaviors. He has an English or Australian accent.
A kid trying to fit in by acting like the people on MTV. Uses a lot of slang and dresses in overly-baggy clothing.
The ladies' man. He sings an upper baritone duet with Natalie in "TRUE LOVE.
Will's counterpart. She sings a mezzo duet in "TRUE LOVE"
Kaitlin's love interest. No speaking required.
Counterpart to Natalie. She is a bit of a "Valley girl." No solo singing required.
A girl who is a "goody two shoes". She's a little ditzy and wears a ribbon in her hair.
This part could be played by an adult if desired. He's a likeable character, but rather bumbling. He would really prefer coaching but has found himself in administration.
A non-speaking role, but she pantomimes helping Mr. Hoffman with the P.A. System.
The custodian. A little quirky, he always seems to be around campus pushing a broom. He observes the students and mutters words of wisdom on occasion. He breaks "type" by joining the students in the lunchroom dance break.
The history teacher who encourages students in all matters and helps with problems that are more personal. She/He has one major mezzo/baritone solo in "CAREER DAZE
The very bright math teacher who can't figure out why the kids aren't "getting it." She/He sings a recitative solo in "ALGEBRAMETRY"
They will also sing on most numbers.
