SEUSSICAL takes us into the fantastical world of Dr. Seuss, where we meet beloved characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie la Bird, JoJo and many others. The Cat in the Hat guides us into The Jungle of Nool where we see Horton, the kind hearted elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing the entire town of Whoville. Horton meets JoJo, a Who child sent to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton vows to protect the speck of dust on a nearby clover, while at the same time protecting an abandoned egg left by the lazy Mayzie la Bird. Horton tries to convince the other animals in The Jungle of the existence of the Whos, but is ridiculed and put on trial for insanity. Only the loyal Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in the gentle giant. One of the most beloved musicals in the country, SEUSSICAL weaves a story of friendship, loyalty, and love. Despite all odds, Horton and Gertrude band together to save the Whos, free Horton, and restore peace and unity to the Jungle of Nool. Our production will bring to life amazing creatures who normally exist only in the imagination, with masterful storytelling, a variety of wonderful music styles, fabulous tableaus of light, color & special effects, artful costumes, comical audience interaction, dozens of songs & dances that will alternately electrify and tug at the heart-strings. SEUSSICAL is more than just a delightful story…it teaches performers and audience alike the power of being unique, and the importance of fighting for your beliefs. Compassionate and gentle elephant. Commonly misunderstood, protective and loving of all creatures in the jungle. Vocal range: A2-F4
Horton's one-feathered-tail bird neighbor, sweet, timid. Though kind and loyal, also self-conscious. Vocal range: F3-F5
The most beautiful bird in all of the jungle. Oblivious to self-centeredness. Relies on the talent of manipulation, & intoxicating beauty, to navigate through life. Vocal range: G3-Eb5 with a belt
The 'leader' of the jungle, loud, brassy, and stubborn. Caring but unabashedly sassy and soulful. Vocal range: F#3-F5 with a belt
A fabulous trio of birds who know everything there is to know about the goings on in the jungle and support Mayzie throughout the show. Capable of singing tight harmonies. Vocal ranges: Soprano/mezzo/alto
Not inherently bad, but they tease, play pranks, and get a kick out of making mischief, although often at another’s expense. Capable of singing tight harmonies. Vocal ranges: Ab2-C5
Wants to be a good leader and parent. Recently-elected official, proud of this new role and eager to prove leadership abilities. High standards to set an example to the citizens of Whoville. Vocal range: Alto, tenor or baritone

Sees the world in simple contrasts: good and evil, weak and strong. Believes in values of militaristic regimentation: conformity, rigorous and disciplined physical training, and following orders without questions. Vocal range: Baritone
A green beastie, a happy member of the Who community, but this wasn’t always the case. The Grinch once lived angrily apart and wished to disrupt the pleasantry of the Whos. The Grinch’s story and change of heart are all part of Who culture now, and happily retold every Christmas. Vocal range: Baritone or alto
