Casting Call for Boys and Girls for "The Hobbit" Play

There are at least 20 available roles, including excellent roles for both boys and girls. The minimum age to audition is 8 years old, and the maximum age is 18. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Six auditionees will be seen at each appointment time; a maximum of 42 auditionees will be seen. Auditionees should prepare a SHORT one-minute monologue from a published play or novel. The monologue should express intense emotion and a theatrical level of expression. The play’s genre is dramatic fantasy. Choose a monologue appropriate for the genre of the play; choose a piece with rich emotional ranges. No songs or poems. Monologues will be evaluated on volume, clarity of speech, depth of emotional expression, and ability of physical transformation. Please do not select monologues from film or TV scripts. Memorization is REQUIRED. Auditionees should bring their calendars. All actors will be asked to list all conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. The director will make every attempt to work around conflicts, whenever possible. Rehearsals will begin on June 22, 2025 continuing through Thursday, August 7, 2025. Rehearsals are held Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Actors should expect to attend most, but not all, rehearsals; conflicts may be listed at audition. Orientation/First rehearsal on Sunday, June 22 is mandatory for first time participants.
