"Into The Woods"
Auditions for Steven Sondheim's classic musical, "Into The Woods". Seeking cast. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. One of Sondheim's most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated classic that will be presented in a light that nobody has ever seen. Join for a version of this show that will reinvent the classic story you know and love. Additional info: The Official Audition Announcement & Audition Form are attached. What to prepare: Please prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song in the style of the show. Singing from the show is also acceptable. An accompanist will be provided. Please have sheet music in the correct key. Auditions will not include any readings from the script or a dance call. Both will be reserved for callback. Callbacks will be by invitation only and will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, beginning at 2:00 PM. Rehearsals will NOT begin until Monday, August 25th. Read thru will be Monday, August 25th at 7:00 PM. Show dates: November 20th - 23rd *one weekend only* Evening performances are at 8 pm with a Sunday matinee at 2 pm. An intellectual and curious story-teller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience. Seeking a youth actor who is a STRONG actor/singer. -The feckless Giant killer who is 'almost an adult.' He is adventurous, naive, energetic, and bright-eyed. Jack grows before our eyes from start to finish. Seeking a strong young actor and vocalist, who is exceptionally mature, and able to handle the content. Vocal range: B2-G4
-A spoiled and outspoken young girl who is strong-willed, quick-wited, fearless, yet youthful and naive. She is a force to be reckoned with! Seeking a strong young actor and vocalist, who is exceptionally mature, and able to handle the content. Vocal range: Bb3-F5
-A young, earnest maiden who is constantly mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. She longs for more, but doesn’t quite know what she wishes for. A complicated and smart young woman, who must be an exceptional actress and vocalist. Vocal range: G3-G5
