Young Talent Wanted for Upcoming Audition "Grease"
Seeking young performers for upcoming "Grease" auditions. See the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: “GREASE” harkens back to the 1950’s with hot-rodding and hip-shaking as the popular leader of the T-Birds, Danny, and the new good girl to Rydell High, Sandy, try to reignite their Summer romance among the interest and turmoil of the rest of the high school gang. The Pink Ladies rally to support each other and Sandy while Danny and the boys grow to accept that they must answer to their actions to control their fate while the ladies continue to find their independence and voice. Additional info: SHOW DATES: September 26th, 27th, October 3rd, 4th at 7:30pm September 28th, October 4, 5th at 3:00pm Auditions will consist of individual vocal auditions and an easy-to-learn dance routine (if time allows). Please be ready to perform 16-32 bars of a song that showcases your vocal range. A song from the same genre as Grease would be best. An audition pianist will be provided to accompany you. Bring your marked sheet music, printed out and in the correct key. No a capella singing please. Those auditioning will learn a simple dance routine. Please come prepared to move – wear comfortable clothing. Bring footwear/dance shoes you can move in. Callbacks: Thursday, July 10, beginning at 6:30 PM (INVITATION ONLY) Rehearsals will begin July 28th. The audition schedule will be based on cast conflicts and facility availability. Our goal is to rehearse 5 days/week. Evening rehearsals are 6:30–9:30pm. Weekend rehearsal times may vary, but will most likely be 1:00–5:00pm Please see the attachment for details. (Range: tenor, D3–B4) The leader of the T-Birds; good-looking, strong and confident, with an air of easy-going charm. Songs: “Summer Nights”, “Alone at a Drive-In Movie”, “All Choked Up”.
(Range: Tenor, D3-A4) Small, boyish, and open, with a disarming smile and a hero worshiping attitude towards the other guys. He also plays the guitar. Featured soloist, “Those Magic Changes”. Duet with Roger: “Rock and Roll Party Queen”
(Range: Tenor, C3–F4) The second in command of the T-Birds; tough-looking, surly, and avoids any show of softness. He has an offbeat sense of humor. Featured singer, “Greased Lightnin”.
(Range: baritone, G2–A4) A member of the T-Birds; funny Italian-American, he is a braggart and wheeler-dealer who thinks he's a real lady-killer.
(Range: Tenor, D3-A4) The anything-for-a-laugh type of boy; a clown who enjoys winding people up, he is full of mischief and is always dreaming up half-baked schemes and ideas. Featured duet with Jan, “Mooning”. Duet with Doody: “Rock and Roll Party Queen”.
(Range: Alto A3–C5) Leader of the Pink Ladies; tough, sarcastic, and outspoken but vulnerable. Featured solos, “Look at Me I’m Sandra Dee” and “There Are Worse Things I Could Do”.
(Range: Alto, A3–D5) A dreamer; good-natured but not too smart, fussy about her appearance, particularly her hair. She can't wait to finish high school so she can be a beautician. Featured number, “Beauty School Dropout” calls for strong comedy chops.
(Range Alto, C4–C5) The 'beauty' of the Pink Ladies; looks older than the other girls, but betrays her real age when she opens her mouth. She tries to act sophisticated. Featured song “Freddy My Love”.
(Range: Alto, A3-C5) Funny, loud, compulsive eater, and awkward member of the Pink Ladies. Loud and pushy with the girls, but shy with boys. Featured duet with Roger, “Mooning”.
(Range: Soprano with high belt, A3–F#5) New girl in town; sweet, wholesome, naive, cute, and innocent. Featured songs: “Summer Nights”, “It’s Raining on Prom Night”, “Look at Me I’m Sandra Dee Reprise”, and “All Choked Up”.
(Range: Alto, C4–C5) The best dancer at St. Bernadette's; a loud mouth, she wins the dancing competition with Danny. Featured dancer. Doubles as Rydell High teen.
(Range: Tenor, A2–E4) The class valedictorian; physically awkward, with weak eyes and a high-pitched voice. He's a typical 'apple-polisher' - both smug and pompous, but gullible.
(Range: Alto, D4-A4) The ultimate cheerleader; confident, athletic, sure-of-herself, but can be given to bursts of disconcerting enthusiasm. She's a bit of a pain and unpopular with the Pink Ladies, and can twirl a baton.
(Range: Flexible) A typical 'teen audience' disc jockey; slick, handsome, egotistical and fast-talking. Actor might also double as faculty ensemble in Act 1. Vince appears onstage at the prom, and as a voice on the radio.
(Range: Tenor, G3-E4) Band leader and singer at the prom. Featured songs: “Shaking at the High School Hop” and “Born to Hand Jive”. Actor might double as faculty ensemble in Act 1.
(Range: Flexible) A no-nonsense, serious, loud English teacher. Comedy character part.
(Range: Tenor, E3–F4) Frenchy's suave and slick guardian angel, who encourages her to stay in school. Doubles as an employee at Burger Palace and can appear as a singer or band member at the prom. Featured solo: “Beauty School Dropout”.
Ensemble members who play students appear in “Alma Mater”, “Shakin’ at the High School Hop”, “Born to Hand Jive”, “Those Magic Changes” and “We Go Together Reprise”. Dance opportunities in “Greased Lightning” dance break, and back-up vocalist opportunities as angels in “Beauty School Dropout”. Some ensemble members will be asked to understudy for T-Bird or Pink Lady Roles.
