Teens Wanted for "The Great Gilbert and Sullivan Sing-Off"

About the project: Three fictional theater companies are competing in a Gilbert & Sullivan Festival, performing musical numbers drawn from throughout the Gilbert & Sullivan canon. One company is very traditional in their presentations, while another company is very non-traditional, indulging in things like gender-swapped characters, updated lyrics, and modern references. The third company is unlucky; somehow or other, everything they try to do goes wrong in some way: the lead forgets the lyrics, or the supertitles operator goes rogue, or the choreography turns into a train wreck. Additional info: Performance Dates: August 9-10 Rehearsals begin June 2; primarily Mon-Thurs Music: Prepare a verse or excerpt (1-2 minutes) of a song, memorized, preferably from Gilbert & Sullivan. Bring sheet music for the accompanist. No unaccompanied auditions are allowed. Movement: EVERYONE is asked to participate in one movement audition at either 7:15 p.m. on Tues./Fri. or 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you can move in. Don’t stress if you’re not a dancer! This is for the choreographer to get a sense of how everyone moves. Dance (optional): Immediately after the movement audition, there will be an optional dance audition for those who are interested. If you have dance skills, stay to show off what you can do! There will be an opportunity to feature some styles of dancing in this show that aren’t normally seen in a Gilbert & Sullivan production. If you are interested please apply.
