About the project: "Matilda" The Musical: A brilliant and imaginative young girl with extraordinary abilities stands up to her neglectful parents and a cruel headmistress, discovering the power of storytelling, friendship, and self-belief in this heartwarming and energetic musical. Dates: September 2, 2025 – October 19, 2025 "Winnie the Pooh" – Theater for the Very Young Theater for the Very Young – Join Pooh Bear and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood for a charming interactive adventure filled with friendship, whimsy, and the simple joys of childhood. Dates: September 23, 2025 – October 19, 2025 "The Pigeon Gets A Big Time Holiday Extravaganza! " When Mo Willems’ characters get together for the holidays, it’s bound to be the biggest extravaganza ever! Terrific tunes, silly stories, goofy gifts, audience antics: it’s all in this brand-new musical party that sleighs! Dates: October 28, 2025 – December 21, 2025 "A Christmas Carol" Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly businessman, embarks on a transformative journey through past, present, and future with the help of three Christmas spirits in this timeless tale of redemption and holiday spirit. Dates: November 4, 2025 – December 21, 2025 "The Hobbit" Bilbo Baggins, an unassuming hobbit, is swept into an epic adventure with a band of dwarves and the wizard Gandalf to reclaim a lost kingdom from the fearsome dragon, Smaug. Dates: January 6, 2026 – February 22, 2026 "Newsies" Newsies is a high-energy musical based on the true story of the 1899 Newsboys’ Strike in New York City, following a group of young newspaper sellers as they stand up against powerful publishers. Dates: March 31, 2026 – May 17, 2026 Additional info: After registration, in the confirmation email, you will receive a link to an online form that asks about your name, age, grade in the fall of 2025, any special skills, and previous experience. If you know of firm conflicts you have (like a family vacation, or another show you’re in, or an important dance class or recital) please put that down on your information form. Directors encourage you to fill out this form prior to arriving for your audition; you may also fill out this form at the audition with an electronic device. Young performers will be brought into the audition room in small groups. Directors will do some group warmup exercises to activate your body, voice, and imagination. They will give you a chance to read a part from one of the script excerpts, which are attached. You can choose either piece to read. You do not have to read a scene to audition. For those interested in MATILDA, THE PIGEON GETS A BIG TIME HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA!, or NEWSIES, directors will give you a chance to sing ONE of the musical excerpts which are attached. Rehearsals are weeknights and weekends; schedules vary based on the show and the role. Preliminary rehearsal schedules for our fall productions are attached. A detailed rehearsal schedule is sent out 2 weeks before the first rehearsal. Some conflicts can be accommodated but directors ask that you prioritize the show if you are cast, since there is a limited amount of time for rehearsals and performances.
