Seeking Teens for Dance Tryouts in "42nd Street" Show

About the project: 42nd Street celebrates Broadway and the magic of showbiz with wit, humor, and pizzazz. At the height of the Great Depression, aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city from Allentown, PA, and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of Pretty Lady, a glitzy new Broadway show. But just before opening night, the leading lady breaks her ankle. Will Peggy be able to step in and become a star? Peggy’s rise from showgirl to star is the stuff of show business dreams. 42nd Street is full of crowd-pleasing tap dances and show-stopping ensemble production numbers. The score is chock-full of Broadway standards, including “You’re Getting To Be A Habit With Me,” “Dames,” “We’re In the Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “Shuffle Off to Buffalo,” and “Forty-Second Street.” Additional info: Audition Expectations: In-person auditions will be closed with the director/choreographer, musical director, and stage manager. Auditionees will complete a group dance audition before individual vocal auditions. Sides may be provided for a cold read to follow. Vocal Audition: Please prepare 1 minute of a traditional musical theatre piece or a song from the show. Bring sheet music or a device to play your accompaniment track. Both an accompanist and a Bluetooth speaker will be available to play your audition selection. Dance Audition: A short dance will be taught to all auditionees. After a few practice rounds, auditionees will be divided into groups for the dance audition. Please wear dance-appropriate attire. Tap shoes are encouraged. Please have a list of all conflicts for the rehearsal period ready upon arrival at auditions. Please note the following generalized rehearsal dates, and check performance dates carefully before auditioning. Rehearsals will be scheduled according to conflicts disclosed at auditions. To ensure an efficient rehearsal schedule, it is imperative that all known conflicts are listed. Having reasonable rehearsal conflicts will not impact casting, however, performance conflicts will not be allowed. The read-through will be on Sunday, June 1st, at JJP, with the first rehearsal following on Monday, June 2nd. From there, a subsequent rehearsal schedule will be provided. Rehearsals will be scheduled for Monday-Thursday evenings 6:30-9:30, Sunday afternoons/early evenings July 6-August 3, and Sitzprobe on Saturday late morning/afternoon August 2nd, with a possible music rehearsal Saturday June 14th and/or 21st. Not every cast member will be called to each rehearsal. Set build/workdays are every Saturday beginning July 5th at 10:00 a.m., and all actors and others are encouraged to do their part. Tech Week/Dress Rehearsal: August 3-7 Show dates: August 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, and 23 at 7:30 p.m. &August 10, 17, and 24 at 2:00 p.m. If interested, please apply.
