Kids Wanted for Dance Casting Call in "Mary Poppins"

Talents ages 8 and up are welcome to audition for the "Mary Poppins" Show. Please see the details below. About the project: The jack-of-all-trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it." Additional info: Please arrive as close as possible to the start time of the age group you fall into to allow ample time for various groupings for cold readings and choreography. Come prepared to sing a 60-second song selection performed a cappella or with a recording without vocals. It is not appropriate to sing along to the original recording of songs. Directors want to hear you, not the original artist! Musical Theatre song selections are preferred to contemporary artist songs. ​ Please wear clothing and shoes that you can move in. You will be taught some choreography. You do not need to attend both audition dates. If you are unavailable for rehearsals for multiple weeks during the summer, it is unlikely that you will be cast. Absences during the last two weeks of rehearsals leading up to tech week are not permitted. Mary Poppins is a long show, and we need everyone to be at the scheduled rehearsals. Rehearsals will be in the evenings, with the possibility of a few weekend daytime rehearsals. Rehearsals will begin after Memorial Day Performances are July 24-26 at 7:00 PM and July 27 at 2:00 PM at the Jasper Arts Center. Please bring a list of all scheduling conflicts through July 27.
