Seeking Teens for Dance Tryouts in "The Spongebob Musical"
Seeking talents ages 16 and up for "The SpongeBob Musical". Please see the details below. About the project: Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show! When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world! Additional info: Vocal Audition: Please prepare 30-60 seconds (about 32 bars) of a musical theatre style song in the style of the show (think pop/modern style with plenty of belts/riffs) OR sing a song from the Spongebob TV show (Examples: Campfire Song, F.U.N. Song, etc.). Please do not sing a song from the musical itself. Make sure to use a song that shows off the range(s) of the character(s) you are interested in. For example, if going for someone like Spongebob or Patchy, think something belty or higher, or for going for someone like Sandy or Pearl, think something with riffs and power. An accompanist will be provided for you. Audition songs will be sung with an accompanist or a cappella. No backing tracks will be permitted. Auditioners may be asked to do an on-the-spot range check. If you know how to play the ukulele, please bring it in for a quick playing check at the end of your audition. Dance Audition: Everyone will be asked to learn a short dance combination from the show. Please bring clothes that are comfortable to dance in and closed-toed shoes. If you tap, you will be asked to stay for a short skills check. Anyone interested in Squidward should be prepared to tap. Acting Audition: Please be prepared to read from the script. Sides will be provided. Actors may also be asked to do some improvisations. Staged role that produces all sound effects specified in the script and score using percussive instruments, triggered digital effects, and other creative sound makers. The show is meant to be performed with a Foley Artist Fish playing sound effects live, and within view of the audience, to accompany stage action. This could include footsteps for SpongeBob and Squidward, dings for objects appearing, whacks for hits, and so on.
