About the project: A pop culture trip down memory lane, Back to the 80’s tells the story of Corey Palmer and his senior year of high school: his best friends, the class bully, and the girl he loves. In the present day, Corey takes us back to William Ocean High School, watching himself and his friends Kirk and Alf start their bid to be senior class president and vice-presidents, only to have the opportunity stolen by bully Michael Feldman. To make Corey’s life worse, Michael has also stolen away Tiffany Houston, Corey’s longtime crush. But this isn’t the only relationship on the rocks: teachers Mr. Cocker and Ms. Brannigan are fighting in their not-so-secret romance, Michael is posing as new girl Eileen’s mysterious secret admirer, and Tiffany’s friend Cyndi doesn’t want to give admirer Billy the time of day. Add in a charity concert for Africa, a Star Wars-inspired dream sequence, and a final showdown between Michael and class geek Feargal McFerrin, and Back to the 80’s is a non-stop collection of music, movie, and TV Easter Eggs for all ages. The jukebox score includes a wide variety of popular hits such as “Video Killed the Radio Star,” “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” “Love Shack,” “Footloose,” and “The Time of My Life.” Additional info: Audition will include vocal, dance/movement, and acting. Prepare a 90-second musical selection for the vocal audition. Bring sheet music. Piano accompaniment will be provided. Readings from the script will be provided. (JUNIOR) - He is 17 and in his Senior Year. A very likeable, very ordinary American teenager.
One of Corey Junior’s two best friends. A likeable teenager, only just coming out of childhood.
Corey’s other best friend. Corey, Alf and Kirk are very close, but they are rather naïve, particularly about women.
One of the group of girls that “Just Wanna Have Fun”. A cute, bubbly teenage female from the 80s, innocent, naïve and doe-eyed about boys and love – aspiring to be Cyndi Lauper and Madonna rolled into one.
One of Tiffany’s best friends. More street-smart than Tiffany, Cyndi knows that boyfriends are a passport to attention and presents.
Another one of the inner clique of “The Cool Girls”. An all-singing, all-dancing party girl.
The twin sister of Mel – although for ease of casting, they will probably be fraternal, not identical.
The coolest guy in the school. The girls all fall at his feet. A car-driving, Fonzie-styled football star. Has the romantic attention of all the girls, but particularly Tiffany Houston (who Corey just happens to be in love with.)
One of Michael Feldman’s posse. Another popular, good-looking, athletic guy. The kind of person that every 17 year old wants to be (particularly if they are not popular, good-looking or athletic!!)
Lionel is fairly similar to Billy. Not quite as cool as the others, but because he is in the group, the girls put up with him anyway.
The final guy to round out the group of Michael Feldman’s friends. Not much else to be said - big hair, wears clothes that were cool at the time, but now just look like fluorescent mismatches of colour.

The new arrival, charming, full of life and vitality – and a dreamer who lovingly longs for the day when she has a boyfriend.

Laura’s best friend. Both girls have trouble distinguishing between reality (i.e. that they have had no boyfriends) and fantasy (that they are married to Neil Patrick Harris).
