Singing Auditions Open for Kids in "Newsies" – Check out the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Disney's Newsies is a Tony-winning Broadway hit that inspires audiences to stand up for what's right. Set in turn-of-the-century New York, it follows Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy who leads a strike against unfair publishing practices. With a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and hit songs like Seize the Day and Santa Fe, this high-energy musical delivers nonstop excitement. Based on a true story, Newsies is a thrilling, family-friendly show with a powerful and timeless message. Additional info: Dance Calls: Monday, April 21st or Tuesday, April 22nd 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm | Studio E *A dance call is optional but required if you'd like to be considered for a lead, main dancer, or supporting dancer role. Callbacks (Invitation Only): Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm | Studio B Rehearsals August 19th, 2025 - January 8th, 2026 GENERAL AUDITIONS (Required): At your 5-minute audition time slot, the directors will be asking you to sing two prepared song selections (approx. 1 minute each from a Broadway Musical). Audition materials, including a list of characters & synopsis of the show, will be provided when auditions are announced. ​ DANCE AUDITIONS (Optional): The directors will be warming up as a group and learning a short dance combination together. If you wish to be considered as a Featured Dancer, sign up for our Dance Call in addition to your General Audition. If cast as a Dancer, there will be a required weekly Wednesday dance rehearsal. CALLBACKS (By Invitation Only): If the directors are considering you for a lead or supporting role in the show, you may have a callback! At callbacks, you will be asked to learn & sing a portion of a song from the show, and read a scene or two. The directors will provide more details if you are selected for a callback after your general audition. If you are interested, please apply.

Fiercely protective of his best friend, Crutchie, and strongly loyal, Jack isn’t afraid to use his voice to attain better conditions for the working kids of New York City. Though living on the streets has given him a tough-guy exterior. Vocal Range: Bb2 to A4
