About the project: Clara Breed, a children’s librarian in San Diego, corresponds with Hana, a Japanese- American teenager about her life in a Japanese-American internment camp during WWII. Hana describes in her letters how she and her younger sister are terrified of the guards, but Miss Breed’s kindness helps them cope.
